CBD Dosing –
How do I know if my CBD is working?

CBD Dosing

Nowadays, you can find CBD in everything from oils and creams right down to alcohol and even toothpaste. But how do you know if it’s working for you? The two biggest things you need to be aware of is first, your desired dosage, and secondly your chosen delivery method. By delivery method, we are simply referring to the way in which you are taking your CBD.

What’s the right amount of CBD for me?

Firstly, what is crucial to remember is that everyone is different, so naturally, everybody’s ideal CBD dose will differ. It is also important to consider the condition or concern you are trying to address. For example, a young professional using CBD to reduce their mild social anxiety will in all probability require a significantly lower dose of CBD than a retired, older individual looking for relief from chronic pain.

Also important to consider is that our endocannabinoid systems differ. So some people may experience improvement after the first few uses, whilst others may need to continually use it for a month to notice the effects

As a general rule of thumb, we recommend that you supplement your research alongside following the instructions of the specific product. And if you are still then unsure, then you should get in touch and consult with your doctor.

Okay, I’ve established my desired dosage so I’m good to go

Not quite! Another thing that is equally important to consider is the delivery method being used. Put simply, eating 25mg of CBD chocolate is not the same as sublingually taking 25mg of CBD using an oil tincture.

Delivery Methods

There are several ways in which CBD can be consumed, or applied to the body:

• Tinctures
• Vapes
• Edibles (such as CBD chocolate or gummies)
• Topicals

Tinctures – one of the most popular ways to consume CBD, tinctures can take effect within around 15 to 25 minutes. Drops are placed directly underneath the tongue so they absorb directly into the bloodstream via the mucous membrane.

Vapes – another extremely popular method of consumption, vapes are the fastest way of CBD absorption. Some suggest it is the most effective method for conditions such as anxiety & depression, two conditions directly linked with the Central Nervous System (CNS). The effects of vaping CBD can often be felt within 10-20 minutes of use.

Edibles – whilst a popular choice amongst many, CBD edibles are arguably the slowest way for CBD to take effect. Taking anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours, they are particularly slow as they need to be broken down in the Digestive system before reaching your bloodstream. Both tinctures & vapes bypass the Digestive system hence the faster absorption speed.

Topicals – these usually take 25-45 minutes to take effect, but their effects are very localised as the CBD is being rubbed into a very specific area.

Ultimately, CBD can have a positive effect on our general health and well-being. The two biggest factors to consider is the delivery method of choice, and the strength of any CBD product used, as these will be most influential in determining how long it will take for your CBD to take effect.
